Martin Thomas Tennis
REFERENCES
I have coached Martin Thomas for 4 years on an individual, doubles and squad basis. Martin has already excelled in tennis, and he has the potential to go even further. I would describe Martin as an aggressive baseliner a strong sense of how to use his forehand strategically to challenge the opposition. He has exceptionally strong net play and excellent feel for the ball. Martin is adept at using his slice to vary the speed of play and gain advantage in the point. He has very strong accomplishments in both singles and doubles. Martin is a pleasure to coach. In addition to his strong tennis skills, he has superb teamwork and leadership capabilities. Martin’s interpersonal skills were critical in improving team dynamics. This generated better results for everyone at competitions and led to Martin’s appointment as team Captain. During doubles matches, Martin makes every effort to motivate his partners and ensure complementarity. Martin would be a great asset to any team he joins and also to the university community as a whole.

James Rushby, Repton School Director of Tennis
I have coached Martin, either formally or informally, since Martin was 12, and as such have a strong appreciation for Martin’s commitment to tennis and his community. Since a young age, Martin has had a commitment to excellence, and was chosen for the Kent under 12 and under 14 teams; this is one of the most competitive teams in the country. His tennis improved steadily over time, and continues to improve to this day. I have seen Martin’s natural talent in volleying become stronger through practice and hard work.Martin gives back to his tennis community in Kent and continues interaction with the team by volunteering as a tennis coach. He enjoys mentoring younger players and working with them to help them achieve their potential.
Martin has grown as an individual, a community member and a tennis player over the time I have known him and I anticipate that he will be an incredible asset to future teams.
